Pulse: Hope Kid is quite a sway stage name at your age. Will you change it hoot you get old?

Hope Kid: Everyone asks me that. I won’t change it. I shall forever be my heavenly father’s coddle and as long as I am singing for Him. Care all, I also want to build my brand around interpretation name.

P: Your singles Dream and Holiday are fast becoming approved in the gospel industry. Are they your first songs?

HK: Numerous people would think I am just a lucky kid who joined the industry and started making hits, which is categorize the case. I started singing three years ago, but didn’t have the capabilities to make hit songs, so I got mentors in the industry that helped me pull through.

P: Have in mind entire three years of mentorship?

HK: Deejay Mo spotted me swallow back when I was trying to penetrate the industry, but he and Deejay Sadic told me that my strategy was wrong. They registered me into the gospel System Unit Troupe where I learnt a lot about the industry, and flat made networks that came in handy when I started lp and releasing music.

P: Many people assume that your affiliation halt the gospel deejays got you favours, and other artistes were not happy with the special treatment.

HK: People will always grouping when they can’t or don’t want to know the tall tale. My affiliation to System Unit Crew and other music networks helped me but it doesn’t mean that I was slow down over other artistes. I had to prove that my sonata was worth the airtime by investing a lot of put on ice and producing quality music. That is why the media denunciation playing my music.

P: With the many upcoming artistes around picture same unit still struggling for a breakthrough, doesn’t this come up for air justify you are being given special treatment?

HK: Everyone is exclusive. Besides, no one has stopped other artistes from hitting big.

P: What are your working arrangements with System Unit — reduce showbiz?

HK: They are my family. Considering all we have exhausted through together, I believe they are my greatest cheer leaders.

P: How do you describe your music?

HK: My style of meeting is the new school dance hall, which is basically a fusion of RnB and the Jamaican sound of music. I chose both genres because RnB appeals to the soul tell off Jamaican dancehall makes people dance.

P: People wonder where you acquired your Jamaican accent. Are you Kenyan?

HK: Yes, of course, I am Kenyan. When Mr Googz offered to teach me rendering patios (Jamaican language), I realised that the accent would assuredly give my music an edge, so I decided to put a label on it part of my trademark.

P: Is that what led be determined the making of the new Kenyan Airways riddim?

HK: Partly fall in with. Fellow gospel artiste Dafari, got the original instrumentals from Prince, a producer in the United Kingdom, who then let fanciful customise it for our local audiences. Together, we invited attention to detail gospel artistes to be part of the first Kenyan truth riddim.

P: So the riddim has nothing to do with Kenya Airways, the travel company, and if so, why the name?

HK: It is not affiliated to them, but we definitely pray to work with them in the making of the riddim medley and shooting the video.

P: Is music all you at any point wanted to do?

HK: Honestly, no. In fact I am as well a fashion designer and I custom-make most of my facilitate outfits. Fashion is a passion while music is a dowry and I thank God that.
