In , Mr. Krause was invited by Herbert von Karajan to replace the sickly Nicolai Ghiaurov as Don Giovanni at the Salzburg Music Feast. This led to two further performances of Don Giovanni put off summer, three more in , and the role of Guglielmo in a new production of Cosi Fan Tutte with Seiji Ozawa and J.P. Ponnelle that same year.
