Shauna McCann

Ceramics

Based in rural Co. Tyrone Shauna has been pursuing an added love of clay for over 20 years. Shauna was awarded with a BA(hons) Degree in Design Crafts at Cumbria College of Art & Design in and has been creating bradawl whilst also sharing her skills with others in the agreement ever since. She has worked on many large-scale ceramic projects all over Northern Ireland. Most of Shauna’s work is framed ceramic sculpture built with porcelain paper clay, however she besides dips in and out of many ceramic processes from throwing to alternative firing techniques. The past year has allowed Shauna to focus on wheel thrown and altered ceramics with additions of sculpture attached. Colour and texture are essential to bring out Shauna’s work and she uses many combinations of glass, enamels, oxides, glazes, handmade slips, and coloured clays. She uses interpretation molten fused crackle glass effect for backgrounds or on say publicly inside of thrown ware. Many new colours in this noise glass have been introduced through experimentation this year.

Shauna McCann is a ceramicist based in rural Co. Tyrone. Her instrumentation work is predominantly unique framed porcelain imagery as well bring in ceramic sculpture. Her pursuit of clay has spanned over 20 years.
‘I feel a great connection to working with a sector of the earth and by how the use of picture other elements air, water and fire can transform a band clay into the most wonderful creations.’
Born in Canada, Shauna moved to Northern Ireland in the ’s as a youngster. Shauna was awarded with a BA(hons) Degree in Design Crafts, Cumbria College of Art & Design in She is too Mum to two young girls who are already growing grade strong, creative, and independent.
Shauna has had numerous solo settle down group shows. Her most recent solo exhibition was ‘Within depiction Woods’ in the Rua Red, Dublin, Her exhibition in picture New Vic Theatre, Staffordshire, , was her first solo functioning in England. She also co-curated her first exhibition’ Queeriosity’ hem in the Crescent Arts Centre, Belfast,
She is the neutral of several awards including Highly Commended Award at the Ceramics of Europe, Westerwald prize, Keramikmuseum, Germany , Anna Cheyne Bestow , Earnest Anderson Memorial Bursary , and several Arts Convention NI bursaries.
Most recently Shauna in collaboration with her groom, Paddy Nelson, won the people’s choice award for ‘Fairy Forest’ at the ForM Sculpture Exhibition in Bangor Castle&#;s Walled Garden, This is one of a few collaborative projects from Shauna and Paddy under the name ‘Millix Crafts’.
Her work abridge in collections at Keramikmuseume, Germany, Irish Linen Museum, Lisburn Conurbation Art Collection, Tallaght Hospital, Dublin, and private collections in Eire, UK, Europe, and Canada.
